      David and his cousin David Vance 2nd, were among the first to settle in the Mount Pleasant area. So as to know which David a person was referring to, they were known as Red Davie and Black Davie.... one of the swimming holes in the Great Village River is named "Davie's Rock Hole" after one of them as well.
