    • Shirley meet Peter at Carpenter's Hall, Gottingen Street, Halifax 14 Sep 1963. Shirley was survived by her husband, Peter Etue, her mother Annie C. Dingle, sisters, Evelyn Mary (Nichol, Robert) and (Larry Gamache), Truro,NS, Beverley (Wayne) Arsenault and Heather (Douglas) Chase of Pugwash, NS. and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her father; Frank C. Dingle in 1979.

      Shirley suffered over 20 years with the complications of Huntington disease, she was admitted to long term care at Saint Vincent's Hospital, Ottawa, Ont on 11 Nov 1994 where she died 29 Jul 1998. Immediate cause of death aspiration pheuomnia in her 59th year. Autopsy was performed at the General Hospital in Ottawa confirmed that Shirley was afflicited by Huntington Disease and her brain was donated to the Canadian Brain Bank, Toronto, Ontario for research benefits. Cremation followed at Beechwood Cemetery in Ottawa, Ontario on 30 Jul 1998 and her ashes were scattered as per her instructions.

      Peter & Shirley had no children, which was a blessing in disguise as all children born of a Huntington Disease afflicited parent has a 50/50 risk of being afflicited with Huntington Disease in their life. All of Shirley's sisters; Evelyn, Beverley and Heather had Huntington Disease. Their brother; Frankie 1944-1948 even though he died at age 4, there was a good chance he would have inherited Huntington disease as well had he lived a longer life.

      Shirley had the usual childhood milestones; 20 Dec 1949 (her 10th Birthday) German measels, 1945 tonsils out, 25 Dec 1952 her first pair of skates, 4 Nov 1953 her first pair of eyeglasses and 19 Apr 1956 left school at age of 16.

      Shirley worked as a telephone operator in Pugwash, as a waitress/hosekeeping staff at Cyrus Eaton's Lodge in Pugwash with her sister Beverley, as a waitress in Halifax at Fader's Drug Store and Camille's Fish n Chips, as a collator Clerk at Jack Hood's School Supplies (1964-65)in Stratford, Ontario and as a Caretaker at the Hastings Apartment Building, Portage Avenue, Winnipeg, Manitoba (1966-69)

      Shirley was a descendent of one of the first settlers of Pugwash, Abraham Seaman.
