- From "The History of Martha's Vineyard" by Dr. Charles Banks: Volume III Family Genealogies: pp. 126-145: 'The Daggett Family':
Thomas Daggett, born about 1658, resident of Edgartown, carpenter. Held rank of Lieutenant and later Captain (1691) in town militia. He removed to Bristol, Rhode Island, about 1685 but returned to the Vineyard 168991 where he died 25 August 1726.

From the diary of Rev. William Homes of Chilmark: "August 28, 1726, on Thursday night last Captain Thomas Daggett of oldtown (Edgartown) departed this life. He has been ill several weeks. He was a peaceable man and well inclined, and of good understanding."
Captain Daggett's will was dated July 8, 1726, only a few weeks before his death. The inventory was recorded May 12, 1727, and showed real estate valued at 1393 pounds, a handsome property for those times.
